  • How is Hand Waver different than other banner apps?

Other banner apps scroll a message at a pre-defined speed in a single direction, they are not
interactive.
Hand Waver scrolls your message in sync with the waving motion of your hand in both
directions, this gives the optical illusion of the message floating in air!
If you don't wave for several seconds Hand Waver will automatically begin scrolling. Just start waving and Hand Waver will automatically synchronize with the waving motion again.
You can also swipe across the screen (in either direction) to start scrolling - the swipe speed sets the scroll speed.

  • Can I add my own messages?

Yes, up to 20 different messages can be added and saved for replay anytime.

  • Do I have to keep waving?

No, Hand Waver is an interactive banner that moves along with your hand motion, but will automatically scroll if you choose not to wave or swipe across the screen.

  • Is there a message length limit?

Yes, 132 characters. Short messages work best with a waving motion and the optical illusion, so when in waving mode a single word at a time is displayed and the words will rotate through to complete the message.

  • How many messages are saved in the list?

Up to 20 different messages can be added and saved for replay anytime.
Most recent message played is always on top.
The least recently played message is dropped from the list if you exceed the 20 message limit.

  • What does it mean to send a Hand Waver message by e-mail?

Hand Waver will send an e-mail (if your device is configured for an e-mail account)
with a 'special link' with your Hand Waver message. The receiver can touch the link and it will
launch Hand Waver on their iPhone or iPod touch with your message (they must have Hand Waver installed for this to work). Use this when you are out in a group and want to cheer on your favorite team, band, political party, etc. together.
  • What's in the e-mail link?
The 'special link' included in email messages sent by Hand Waver is actually a URL type registration for Hand Waver. This allows other applications to interact with Hand Waver to essentially launch Hand Waver with a custom message, color, background, listening state and background effect. These URLs can be embedded anywhere else you may put a URL: e-mail, a web page, bookmarklets, Facebook, Twitter, etc. You can use these links to share messages and launch Hand Waver from any of these other applications. So, if you have Hand Waver installed on your iPhone and browse a site in mobile Safari that contains a Hand Waver link then it can launch Hand Waver... for example, this link will display "Hello World!" in green text with LED lights effect, strobe light effect and a starfield background: handwaver://bluestone-software.com/;Hello%20World!;2;1;1;1.

where,
message - is a text message up to 132 characters in length that is URL encoded
color # - a single digit number (0 = white, 1 = yellow, 2 = light blue, 3 = blue, 4 = magenta, 5 = red, 6 = orange)
text effect # - a single digit number (0 = none, 1 = LEDs, 2 = stars, 3 = swirls, 4 = hearts)
strobe light flag - a single digit number (0 = off, 1 = on)
starfield background flag - a single digit number (0 = off, 1 = on)

  • What colors are available?

White, Yellow, Green, Light Blue, Blue, Magenta, Red, Orange.

  • Are languages besides english supported?

Yes... and no. All international keyboards and text are supported, so YES. But, this version is
not internationalized, so NO. For example, the e-mail message is in English. We will be
adding internationalization in an upcoming release.

  • Are new features being added?

Yes, we are working hard to keep Hand Waver fun and useful. Let us know what you would like

  • How do I submit a feature request?

No. All upgrades to Hand Waver will be free.
